Hans Schmidt

Hans Schmidt (1927 - 2009) was born in Luisenthal, Germany. At the age of seventeen, he volunteered for service in the Waffen SS and was twice wounded in frontline combat. Emigrating to the U.S. in 1949, he began a successful career as an American businessman. He founded GANPAC, the German-American National Political Action Committee. He is the author of Jailed in 'Democratic' Germany: The Ordeal of an American Writer.
