Chris Fogarty The Irish Holocaust..

Chris Fogarty, the writer of a book about the Irish Holocaust is interviewed in this (one hour and 13 minute) video. In 1845 - 1850, it is alleged that the potato crop failled in Ireland and masses of Irish peasants starved to death as a result. Help was lacking and inffectual, and other food supplies took time to be supplied. Large numbers of Irish subsequently emigrated to the United States. Chris explains that he had been told about the terrible evictions in Ireland in 1880 and was led to the subject of the famine via that subject. Chris reveals that one of his ancestors had been in the 40th Foot of the British Army at the time of the famine and had rounded up food supplies from villages. Chris says that thiswas just one event amongst many. Chris says that he calculated that 5.2 million people died as a result. Asked what the "official" or standard line on the famine, Chris states that a propaganda canard that the Irish were "needy" and over-relied on the potato. Chris states lies have become more prevalent as time passes. Chris comments that some writers have concentrated on the census returns supervised by Oscar Wilde's father, without any critical analysis of that source. Chris remarks that individuals were rewarded at the time for fabricating evidence. A fascinating and interesting interview, about the Irish Potato famine 1845 to 1850.
