The Auschwitz Order (15:44)
The Auschwitz Order.
In this video (15 minutes) Jim Rezoli looks at a document sent in by a watcher of his video channel. This is a document, issued by the commander of the Auschwitz complex on February 14, 1944. The commander at the time was SS-Obersturmbannfuhrer Arthur Liebehenschel, whose name appears on the document. Jim says that the camps were essentially labor camps, and that only idiots would believe that Jews were transported halfway across Europe only to kill them. The order states that 12,000 prisoners out of 41,000 prisoners (fit for labor) are employed in camp maintenance. The document states that prisoners should treated well, given sufficient sleep, roll calls to be done in 15 minutes, their feeding is to be given attention, and parcels (over 1 million parcels arrived in 2 and a half months!) distributed carefully, their clothing to be monitored and sick inmates cared for. Jim comments it is clear that this is a work camp where the prisoners were well taken care of.
