Nikolay Nilovich Burdenko (born June 3, 1876, Kamenka, Russia; died Nov. 11, 1946) was a Russian and Soviet surgeon. He became Surgeon-General of the Red Army. In that function, he headed several commissions investigating alleged German war crimes, among them the Soviet massacre at Katyn. Burdenko's commission blamed this Soviet war crime on the Germans.
