Doug Christie and the Battle for Freedom of Speech (1:03:52 min)

In this (one hour and 3 minutes) video, we look at the brilliant Canadian lawyer, Douglas Hewson Christie. David Irving, the brilliant author and fantastic researcher, introduces Doug at the Real History Forum in 2001. Doug has a long history of defending free speech against laws and groups that try and stifle individual rights. Doug was prominent in defending Ernst Zundel at the famous “Holohoax” trial where Doug’s brilliant court skills ran rings around “Holocaust” “witnesses”.  Doug tells of his greatest reward in life, that special pleasure in meeting courageous individuals from all around the world. He tells of his admiration for David, who stood up for his beliefs against scorn, abuse, bias, abuse of the law and smears by newspapers. Doug says THERE IS NOTHING MORE IMPORTANT THAN TRUTH. Doug gives a account of what David suffered in Canada. At one time gun toting police arrested David who was giving a speech about history.  Doug draws attention to the numerous laws in Western countries that seemingly expand at an increasing rate, a situation which he regards as a society in decline. Doug tells of his experience with a Jewish writer from New York who claimed that hostilly to Jews  was inherent in European societies. He then claimed the Zundel  website was a manifestation of this “hate”. Doug argues that truth is not and cannot be “hate”. Doug tells of his disgust of how the Canadian Parliament barred Ernst Zundel from its buildings and the immediate area, despite having no criminal record. Doug tried it and was also banned. This is an incredible speech by a brilliant lawyer. Sadly, Douglas passed away in 2013, aged 67
