Twenty years ago, James J. Martin, considered by many to be the dean of living revisionist historians, wrote The Saga of Hog Island and Other Essays in Inconvenient History. This revisionist classic brought to light suppressed stories of the Second World War, including the Pearl Harbor cover-up, the Allied rehabilitation of the Mafia after its suppression by Mussolini and the framing of “Tokyo Rose.”

Martin explained the term “inconvenient history” in his introduction; “…a literary enterprise and an exercise in intellectual curiosity intended primarily for the record, and which is not in the service of or dedicated to the welfare of any specific group or force, as well as being a modest indication of what can be done using none but materials which are part of the public record.”

With this in mind, CODOH paid homage to this pioneer by naming one of our folders, a collection of articles or documents, on CODOHWeb, “Inconvenient History: A Resource File.” In this folder we do not present complete articles as we do in the other areas of CODOHWeb. Instead, we feature the text of important, albeit, rare primary documents. “Inconvenient History” also features excerpts and quotes from important secondary sources. Together these items form the beginning of a revisionist research library on-line. Opinion and analysis is kept to a minimum.

In November, a researcher associated with CODOH forwarded us an amazing document. On July 6, 1944 Winston Churchill penned a “Prime Minister’s Personal Minute” regarding the use of poison gas against Germany. In this little known document, Churchill declares, “It is absurd to consider morality on this topic.” He goes on to ask that a “cold-blooded calculation” be made to show that it would pay for Great Britain to use poison gas. Indeed, Churchill goes so far as to write, “We could drench the cities of the Ruhr and many other cities in Germany in such a way that most of the population would be requiring constant medical attention.”

This document clearly does not fit the establishment, “convenient” history version of Churchill and the Second World War. Although some revisionists know of this document, the general public is completely unaware of it. CODOHWeb, dedicated to the enlightenment of the public on such matters, has added this “inconvenient” document to our ever-growing library in Cyberspace.

Interestingly, the secret Churchill gassing document stands in stark opposition to the “missing” Hitler gassing order. One of the first files added to our “Inconvenient History” folder deals exactly with that issue: “The ‘Missing’ Hitler Orders.” Clearly no “Hitler order” could be used in this file, so CODOH researchers compiled a list of historical authorities that confirm the basic revisionist position on this topic.

CODOH has documented a dozen authors from revisionist historians James J. Martin and David Irving to “court historians” like Joachim C. Fest and William Shirer. One example is found in J. Noakes and G. Pridham’s huge three volume set, Nazism: A History in Documents and Eyewitness Accounts 1919-1945 in which the authors admit, “No written order by Hitler for the extermination of the Jews has been discovered and the evidence of an oral order is only indirect.”

Our “Inconvenient History” folder also contains links to important documents regarding: Deportations to the East; Directives for the Use of Prussic Acid (Zyklon) for Vermin Disinfestation); The Haavara Agreement; Heinrich Himmler’s Posen Speech; the Plan for the Expulsion of the German Population, 2 November 1945, U.S. Embassy Berlin Report on the Situation of Jews in War-Time Germany, as well as many others. One of the latest additions to this folder is entitled, “For the Record.” This file documents the steadily growing number of establishment sources acknowledging, partially or grudgingly, the correctness of the revisionist position on the Holocaust story.

Some revisionists might argue that these inconvenient historical documents have been known for years. Revisionists dare not forget, however, Jim Martin’s comment on the willful ignorance and obscurantism of the establishment historians: “… sanctified official chroniclers prefer to ignore inconvenient history, and generally behave as though it ever was written.” Today, history which doesn’t reassure the true-believers is openly being read on the Internet. “Inconvenient History” is just one among many sections on CODOHWeb that break through with precious, tabooed truths to a world—yes, thanks to the Internet, literally a world—that is starving for honesty about the past. In the last eight months, documents on CODOHWeb have been accessed more 300,000 times. Today, thanks to new technologies, the “sanctified official chroniclers” can no longer ignore inconvenient history.
