Niall Ferguson, author of The Pity of War, argues that Britain should have stayed aside from the continental war in 1914. A superb analysis of the origins and causes of WWI, the noted author, Niall Ferguson argues (40 minutes) that the British Empire should not have got involved in the incredible outbreak of insanity of mass killing in 1914, where an entire generation was killed in the murderous mud of the Western Front.
