Memorabilia: The last English Language Interview with Eric Hartmann, the World’s Greatest Fighter Pilot
This is the last interview of arguably the greatest fighter from the Luftwaffe, which was the aerial warfare branch of the combined German Wehrmacht (Defence Forces) during World War II. A unique piece. Ernst Zundel presents another Voice of Freedom video broadcast. Here the greatest air ace of all time is interviewed (29 minutes). This was Major Erich Alfred Hartmann (1922 – 1993) who amassed the feat of shooting down an incredible 352 enemy aircraft. Erich flew 1,404 missions and was engaged in 825 aerial combats. He had to crash land 16 times. He was never shot down by the enemy. Erich was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves, Swords and Diamonds. After the war Erich was held in Soviet captivity for 10 years. The communists convicted him on bogus "war Crimes" and he was given 20 years, later increased to 25 years in the Gulag. He was however released in 1955. After return from Russia, he rejoined the Luftwaffe, and then became a flying instructor. The Russian Federation in 1997 relieved him of all "charges".
