The following is the response that this author received after presenting my opinion on freedom of speech and opinion on the Internet to Senator Ted Kennedy (D-MA). RW

Senator Kennedy's statement on the conference report on Internet censorship

I oppose the Internet censorship provision of the telecommunications conference report.

Federal censorship of the Internet is both unconstitutional and unnecessary.

No one condones pornography. But before enacting a blunderbuss ban like this, we ought to support effective alternatives, like software that is currently widely available, that give families greater power to block offensive material.

    Edward Moore Kennedy (born Feb. 22, 1932, Dorchester, Boston, MA; died Aug. 25, 2009) was a U.S. lawyer and politician who served as a U.S. senator from Massachusetts. A member of the Democratic Party and the prominent Kennedy family, he was the second-most senior member of the Senate when he died.
