Author: Bradley R. Smith

Bradley R. Smith was born in Los Angeles on February 18, 1930. At 18 he joined the army and in 1951 served with the infantry in Korea where he was twice wounded. After three decades of a variety of professional activities, it suddenly hit him: In 1979 he read a leaflet by Professor Robert Faurisson, "The Problem of the Gas Chambers." Then, Arthur Butz’s The Hoax of the Twentieth Century did it for him. He understood from the beginning that he would address the censorship, the suppression of independent thought, the taboo against publishing and debating revisionist arguments—not the arguments themselves. That has remained his position. In 1989 Smith founded Committee for Open Debate on the Holocaust (CODOH) dedicated to defending free speech and free inquiry into the Holocaust question. He handed over CODOH's helm in late 2014, but keeps contributing.

Why? Who benefits? Open debate, nothing else, will expose the facts behind this taboo. To this end Committee…

Scholars Humiliating Students: CODOH ad in the “Georgetown Voice”

When the staff of the Georgetown Voice decided to run the CODOH advertisement titled, “A Revisionist's View of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum,” it was perfectly aware that the ad would cause controversy and bruise the sensibilities of some. The Voice moved deliberately. After substantial preliminary discussion, it placed the issue before the newspaper's general…

A Revisionist Challenge to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum

This article does not claim “the Holocaust never happened.” Those who say it does want to muddy the issue. This is what the ad does claim: The U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum displays no convincing proof whatsoever of homicidal gas chambers, and no proof that even one individual was “gassed” in a German program of “genocide.”…

Detractors of Pamphlet Don't Offer Concrete Evidence, Says Revisionist Bradley R. Smith

The Phoenix reports that President Bloom (“himself Jewish”) states that I wrote my article “The Holocaust Controversy: The Case for Open Debate” to “express [my] personal prejudices,” and that I have an “anti-Semitic agenda,” a small-minded ad hominum assault that I dismiss out of hand. It's the kind of thing you overhear in your local…

What I Believe, What I Don't, and Why

I understand perfectly well that the Hitlerian regime was anti-Semitic and persecuted Jews and others. I understand many peoples, European Jews among them, experienced unfathomable tragedies in Europe during World War II. Nevertheless, I no longer believe the German State pursued a plan to kill all Jews or used homicidal “gassing chambers” for mass murder….
